Clearview App Reviews

Finally a Strong eBook Reader on Mac

I’ve been wanting a solid eReader on mac because there are times I want to view sections of a book on a larger screen. I love that Clearview handles multiple useful formats so well. Love the annotation ability. I basically store and maintain my database of eBooks in Calibre, but use Clearview for reading. I think this would be a 5-star app for me if there was a little more customizability and some syncing support. There’s very little control over how the text looks. Having the capacity to change paragraph or line spacing would make me use Clearview even more frequently. Also the ability to sync annotations between machines would be great. Not a deal breaker by any means, but a useful feature to add. But the simplistic controls for text do take a star off for me. Otherwise its extremely usable and useful eReader, and I thank Canoe soft for getting it done and keeping the improvements coming!

bug

It will crash if you open multiple PDF files on Yosemite. Please fix this bug. Thanks.

Keeps crashing on yosemite osx

Can you please fix this.. it keeps crashing and I utilize this software to study…it does work amazing but now that it won’t open.. it is messing up my work flow..please fix this asap!! Also there is no support available at all!

yep… this one’s the best.

Med student here (for those of you unfamiliar all we do is read, annotate, review, and do so with limited time). I needed something with library organization, annotation (pdf, chm, epub), annotation export (with same highlighting as an rtf), that can remember my last position, that has snappy rendering (>100mb pdf = no problem), and do so without pissing all over the screen. Essentially this is Google Chrome for the UI & rendering, Finder for the Organization, and Skim for the awesomeness. Now if the developer were to add Evernote export and maybe a way to grab images during the export (like the app Highlights) I would totally mess my pants…

A seriously great reader.

I was put off by the price at first. For something as basic as reading pdf and chm files, I did not feel like spending more than a dollar. However, I do not regret this impuls buy at all. This app can handle a huge library of large pdf books without any problems, is very responsive and smooth to work with. Wouldnt want to miss it.

Wasted my money

This app only opens certain epub books for me, mostly I only get the first page. If the epub is made with Apple’s Pages the whole book appears, same with mobi formats, but if it is made with Adobe InDesign I only get the first page. It opens PDFs, but who needs an app to open those? There are other, less expensive apps that do a better job—I bought it because the reviews said it was good. Don’t believe everything you read.

Do not update!!

Since updating I have been unable to open any books regardless of original format. Please fix ASAP!!

Crashes on closing PDF

Upgraded to the newest version, and now the program crashes when closing a PDF. Please fix this! Clearview is my favorite PDF editor.

Notes and bookmarks.

I love this app! Apps like this use to cost $39.95 or more, remember the days before instant software delivery? heh heh. Well, I started using this app and discovered it’s highlighting/notes and bookmarks capability. My hobby right now is learning to study Java, and needing to jump back to sentences and paragraphs in the ebooks I’m studying, for the purposes of memorization and review is essential, if you’re really serious about your studies and you’re a serious Ebook tutorial user Clearview allows you to “annotate” any and all text, from a single character to text of unlimited size, and then, you can type your own description of the highlighted stuff you just highlighted in a little dialog box. Then, your note/highlight (no limited on the number of these) gets added to a hideable sidebar list, which the user can then click on the note entries you’ve created. Additionally, I have no rendering issues on my Macbook Pro Late 2011 Edition (8,3). So far so good, actually excellent! The text is zoomable, fast, and there are enough useful features that makes this a stand-out Epub reader. I like it a lot. It’s my go-to, number one Epub reading app that I use every day. I’ve been into computers since I’m 14. I’m now 54. I give this 5 stars! That’s saying a hell of a lot coming from an old guy like me :) Thank you!

keeps crashing after the update

I cannot read the documents anymore after the new update. It keeps crashing and it needs a fix asap. Also, the title is now not from the filename which I have no choice whatsoever.

Highly recommonded

I usually don’t write reviews but I just had to come here and give it 5 starts. Thank you for bringing the experience iBooks couldn’t offer.

Don’t believe the claims of PDF night mode support

I purchased this app specifically because it claimed to have night mode support for PDFs. All it does it turn the white background slightly gray, but nothing else changes. I dont like that there is no way to find this out without buying the app, and that there are no refunds. (like in the Google Play store). Please post a screenshot or description on your website so people can be warned that you don’t actually support this feature properly.

A great little reader

I’ve spent a decent amount of time looking for a good default ebook reader for my laptop. The best thing I like about Clearview is that, unlike pretty much all the others out there, it doesn’t try to be iTunes and store everything you open with it. It’s not a library; it just opens books for reading. And it does this task well — very clean and straightforward. Perfect! Just what I needed. I’m docking it one star because over time I’ve noticed a few rendering bugs that don’t appear in any other reader I’ve tried.

best mobi to pdf converter

I love this eReader but best of all no one can convert from mobi to pdf better than Clearview. A must have eReader/Converter!

Best Mac App for reading .epub files

This app is the best epub reader on the market at the time of leaving this review. It beats the ibooks app for epubs and its even smarter than the kindle for .mobi files as well. The included pdf reader is a bonus…but not needed in my opinion. The developer should focus on lesser known book formats such as .djvu instead

Crashes constantly upon search

This problem is specific to the new version. Needs to be corrected ASAP to remain functional.

Excelent pice of software

Loove this app. Running very stable on Running it on 10.11 15A244d. As I am developer myself please give time to developer to fix bugs. I do not know developer myself but similar mids think a like. If you having problem please tell develope your setup, what you do to creat this problem, document you openning, version or this document. It is easy to complain about software anothet thing is to developt it. So lets all make this world better :) Couple of request I have. Add XPS and Markeddown (md) But more important I would love to have horizontal splitter. Reading various documentation where you need to jump back and forth having another view into same document would be great for quick navigation

Work flawlessly, highlights and annotations, finally a decent ebook reader.

I purchased this ebook reader on 25 August 2015, I use it on a Macbook 12 with Yosemite. It does not crash, and it works very well, and has the ability to highlight in various colors, a necessary tool for academic work. Also provides a full screen view and many many options. This is the best viewer out there right now. I’ve tried many of them. It also integrates services like dictionary and word web. I’m not associated with anyone from this company. I’m simply happy that I found an ebook reader that will let me completely customize the way I want to read and highlight literary works. Very nice.

Much better than iBooks and Kindle for Mac

I’ve been having problems with both iBooks (page-turning problems) and Kindle for Mac (regular crashing). Clearview is replacing them both. It just works and offers a good reading experience on the Mac. I also appreciate that it handles both .epub and .mobi files, along with many other formats. Much more versatile than the default options from Apple and Amazon.

Excellent application to work with digital assets

Use this app every day for the last 6 month and super happy about the purchase. Very convenient and clean interface! Have one feature request, please support Djvu files too :)
